Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) mixed in a 1:2:4 ratio is the industry standard for slab, beam, and lintel casting. This nominal mix consists of 1 part cement, 2 parts sand, and 4 parts aggregate by volume.

When calculating dry volume, a multiplier factor of 1.54 is applied to the wet volume (`Length × Width × Thickness`) to account for shrinkage and compaction.

For example, a slab of 30x20 feet with a thickness of 6 inches equals 300 cft of wet volume. The dry volume is `300 × 1.54 = 462 cft`. With the 1:2:4 ratio sum of 7, cement makes up `1/7` of the dry volume. Dividing this by `1.25` (cft volume of one 50kg bag) gives exactly `52.8` cement bags. Sand accounts for `2/7` (132 cft), and aggregate/crush accounts for `4/7` (264 cft).

Cement Bags Per Cubic Feet (cft)

A standard 50 kg bag of cement has a dry volume of approximately 1.25 cubic feet (cft). Therefore, to convert dry cement volume in cft to bags, we divide the volume by 1.25. For mortar mixes (e.g. 1:6 masonry mortar or 1:4 plaster mortar), the cement bag consumption per cubic foot of wall volume varies depending on the dry volume conversion factor (1.33 for plaster and 0.3325 for brick masonry).

A 4.5-inch partition wall requires half this amount, approximately 5 bricks per square foot.
